TAMPA, Fla. — Another day, another honor for No. 24.
UConn forward Napheesa Collier on Wednesday was named to the Wooden Award All-America team. Joining Collier were Louisville’s Asia Durr, Iowa’s Megan Gustafson, Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu and Mississippi State’s Teaira McCowan.
Earlier in the week, Collier, a 6-foot-1 senior averaging 21 points and 10.8 rebounds, was named a first team AP and USWBA All-American.
The 43rd annual Wooden Award, which is given to the most outstanding player in both men’s and women’s basketball, will be presented April 12 on ESPN2.
UConn players have previously won the award five times: Maya Moore (2009, 2011), Tina Charles (2010) and Breanna Stewart (2015 and 2016).
The No. 2 Huskies will play defending national champion Notre Dame, a No. 1 seed, in the Final Four on Friday (9 p.m.) at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
