Music club program to feature the Edingtons
Monday’s meeting of the Euterpe Music Club will be titled “The Music of French Composers.”
The 7 p.m. program will take place at the Marquardt Towne Centre, 1045 Hill St. The public is invited to attend. A freewill offering for the Euterpe Scholarship Fund will be taken.
The evening will open and close featuring the musical talents of Bill and Juanita Edington, accompanied on the piano by Susie Krueger. On his trumpet, Bill will play J.E. Barat’s “Andante et Scherzo” and Juanita will present Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Allegro Appassionato” for cello.
A vocal trio with soprano Tamara Collupy, mezzo soprano Carol Ruffin and alto Donna Mueller will sing a cappella selections by Gounod and Saint-Saëns. The music of French composer Gabriel Fauré will be represented in a solo, “Après un rêve,” sung by Collupy, and a duet, “The Cradles,” sung by Collupy and Mueller, accompanied by Ruffin.
Rounding out the program will be the flute stylings of Vicki Larsen, accompanied by pianist Carol Erickson, on “Concertino” by Cécile Chaminade and “Syrinx” by Debussy.
Since 1896 the Euterpe Music Club of Watertown has supported the arts in and around the Watertown area and provided music scholarships for talented high school students.
