Mississippi man dies from burns after starting brush fire
MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) — A relative says a Mississippi man has died from burns he suffered after a brush fire on his property spread out of control.
WLOX-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2jLiZfy ) William Cunningham was severely burned Thursday while trying to put out flames that were spread by winds as he burned brush in Moss Point.
A nephew, Bubba Cunningham, said that Cunningham died early Friday at USA Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama.
The nephew said Cunningham was trying to extinguish the flames when he fell down. Moss Point Fire Chief Tommy Posey said firefighters found Cunningham on the ground when they responded to the blaze Thursday afternoon.
Posey said the man was badly burned on his arms and legs. He estimated the fire burned roughly 150 acres.
