‘EXTREMELY VIOLENT AND DANGEROUS’ SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED IN POCATELLO BY POLICE AND U.S. MARSHALS
Pocatello police and the U.S. Marshals Service report that Jason Pikyavit was arrested in Pocatello on Thursday morning. More information on his arrest will be released soon.
POCATELLO — Police and the U.S. Marshals Service are alerting the public about an “extremely violent and dangerous” sex offender who’s believed to be on the loose in the Pocatello area.
Jason Pikyavit, 46, of Pocatello, is wanted because he failed to register as a sex offender and is a suspect in a serious assault incident that occurred in the Gate City earlier this month, the U.S. Marshals Service reported.
Authorities said Pikyavit could be armed and should not be approached because he is known to be “extremely violent and dangerous.” Anyone who spots him should call 911 immediately, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
All available U.S. Marshals Service and local police resources are being devoted to locating and arresting Pikyavit, authorities said.
Pikyavit is Native American with black hair and brown eyes and is described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 245 pounds. He has a bear claw tattoo on his chest and neck and other tattoos on his arms.
Pikyavit is a registered sex offender because of attempted sexual abuse of a child convictions in Utah during the late 1990s, according to Idaho State Police.
Authorities have not yet provided details about the assault that Pikyavit allegedly committed in Pocatello earlier this month but they did say it was a very serious incident.
