The Dirt: Excelsior building clinic on Indian Trail property

February 24, 2019

Excelsior Youth Center is building an integrated health care facility on its Indian Trail neighborhood property, according city permits.

The $2.6 million project includes a two-story, 17,000-square-foot building at 3910 W. Indian Trail Road.

The project is largely funded by a $1.95 million grant the center received last year from the state Department of Commerce. The state department doled out $39 million in 2018 in an effort to expand treatment for people with behavioral health issues. The program is part of a five-year plan by Gov. Jay Inslee to modernize the state’s mental health system.

Excelsior is a nonprofit that serves young people with those issues.

Spokane’s Bouten Construction is the project’s general contractor. The building was designed by Paul Harrington at South Henry Studios, of Spokane. The engineer was DCI Engineers, also of Spokane.
