Firefighters conduct training exercise on Rainbow Road
Lake Havasu City and Desert Hills firefighters conducted a training exercise Monday afternoon at the intersection of Acoma Boulevard and Rainbow Road.
There, firefighters simulated a “confined space” rescue, in which fire officials were required to enter a tunnel system beneath the intersection. For Havasu firefighters, this kind of training is an annual requirement.
“A confined space is any type of space that’s limited, with one way in and one way out, and not meant for normal occupancy,” said Lake Havasu City Fire Battalion Chief Jasen Stello. “It takes three full companies to successfully do this, or about 12 full members. Desert Hills Firefighters are training with us today.”
