State Police recruitment plans ‘Coffee with a Trooper’

October 12, 2018

Connecticut State Police are offering “Coffee with a Trooper” recruitment informational at the Connecticut Police Academy on Saturday, Oct, 20 in Meriden.

People can join state troopers for an informal meet and greet for anyone considering a career as a Connecticut State Trooper or just interested in learning more about the Connecticut State Police.

It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Connecticut Police Academy at 285 Preston Ave.

Coffee with a Trooper is open to all, including those already in the state police process, those planning to take the next exam and future candidates (those who don’t make the age requirement, aren’t ready to apply, still in high school, etc.)

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak face-to-face with troopers from Recruitment & Selections and the Training Academy to learn more about the hiring process, physical fitness assessment, academy life and physical training at the academy.

Coffee with a Trooper is informal and will allow attendees to grab a coffee and chat with any one of the troopers, or just listen as troopers speak with other attendees.

Also, a training academy instructor will provide information, tips and advice on preparing for the physical fitness assessment at the training academy and physical fitness in general. Throughout the course of the morning, the state police physical fitness instructor will hold several mini-info sessions in a more formal classroom setting allowing anyone who wants to attend both sessions the ability to hear the information and ask questions.

State police dispatchers will also be holding a dispatcher recruitment informational for those not interested in becoming a trooper, but still want to be a vital part of the Connecticut State Police.

The Coffee with a Trooper (and dispatcher) recruitment informational is open to all ages, fitness and interest levels.

Out-of-state attendees also welcome.
