Ducks pick up another Winston
After getting Troy Dye’s brother to commit to Oregon, Willie Taggart secured La’Mar Winston’s brother as well.
Eli’jah Winston, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker from Central Catholic, made his verbal commitment Monday night. The new early signing period for football runs Dec. 20-22.
“Proud to announce that I am 100 percent committed to the O,” Winston posted on Twitter.
Winston is the 25th player to commit to Oregon’s 2018 recruiting class, including running back Travis Dye, the brother of linebacker Troy Dye. Eli’jah Winston is two years younger than his brother La’Mar, a starting outside linebacker for the Ducks who has 44 tackles and two sacks on the season.
Oregon quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo and wide receivers coach Michael Johnson reportedly spent Monday visiting South Medford receiver Chase Cota, whose dad, Chad, was a safety for the Ducks in the 1990s. Cota also posted a picture on Twitter of Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly stopping in Medford.
