January 10, 2018 GMT

A Honesdale High School Spanish teacher surreptitiously photographed ‘intimate parts’ of more than a dozen of his female students while he taught class, state police at Honesdale said. Gaspare Michola Gambino, 34, of Honesdale, was arraigned this morning on 14 counts of invasion of privacy by Magisterial District Judge Linus Myers and bail was set at $10,000. The charges are graded as misdemeanors. Gambino was suspended on Sept. 21 “with pay pending” investigations by the state police and Wayne Highlands School District. Police said Gambino took photographs of female high school students that depicted close-ups of their breasts and under their skirts and dresses, state police said. A criminal complaint indicated that the girls photographed all had clothing on. The date of the offenses is listed as Sept. 20. Gambino earned $59,617 during the 2016-2017 school year, according to state Department of Education data. This is his third year teaching in the district. State police have not yet identified all of the students photographed. If parents believe that their child may be a victim, they can contact the Honesdale barracks at 570-253-7126. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 17. Check back for updates Contact the writer: jkohut@timesshamrock.com, 570-348-9144; @jkohutTT on Twitter
