Fareed Zakaria to speak at Morningside

SIOUX CITY | Morningside College’s 2016 Walt Lecture will feature Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN’s international affairs program, “Fareed Zakaria GPS.”

The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. on October 18 in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. The event is free for the public to attend.

Zakaria’s lecture, “The Rise of the Rest: The Post-American World,” will explore what it means to live in a truly global era with the growth of countries like China, India, Brazil, Russia and many others.

Zakaria was also editor of Newsweek International from 2000 to 2010 and editor-at-large at Time from 2010 to 2014.

The Waitt Lecture Series was established by Ted Waitt at Morningside College in 1997. Recent lecturers have included “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal, Yale Law School professor Stephen Carter, economist/humorist Ben Stein, and documentary filmmaker Ken Burns.
