Police: Men from Paterson and Andover arrested in Paterson drug bust

September 27, 2016

PATERSON – Responding to citizens’ complaints, city narcotics detectives seized a revolver and arrested two men – one from Paterson and the other from Sussex County – on drug dealing charges in the 4th Ward on Monday morning, police said.

The detectives were conducting surveillance near the corner of Franklin and Mercer streets at about 10:55 am when they made the arrests near School 10 and the Nathan Barnert senior citizen building, according to Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale. The detectives seized 117 glassine packets of heroin, the director said.

Justin Jones, 23, of Paterson was charged with seven drug-related crimes and three weapons offenses, including violation of a law that bans convicted felons from having guns, police said. Jones also was charged with possession of imitation drugs with intent to sell them, police said.

Kristopher Marano, 40, of Andover, was charged with possession and intent to distribute heroin, Speziale said.

“Narcotics investigators will continue to attack those involved in illegal drugs, which drives crime in our city,” said the director.
