Featured event: Pumpkin Pickin’

Where can you buy a pumpkin for a good cause?

At the First United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch at 321 E. Harrison Ave.

The Pumpkin Patch is a fundraiser for the church’s “Backpacks for Kids” ministry. Proceeds will be used to fill backpacks with food for children in need.

Each child in the backpack program will receive a backpack full of food each Thursday or Friday.

WHEN: Today and tomorrow, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. & 1:30 p.m.-8 p.m.


- It’s Halloween eve, eve and it lands on a Monday. But don’t fret, there are still events, over the rainbow or at HCISD Performing Arts Center. The Harlingen South Drama department performs its last showing of The Wizard of Oz.

TIME: 7 p.m. WHERE: HCISD Performing Arts Center

- If it’s sweet treats you’re looking for, Dr. Rodriguez Elementary will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event. There will be a concession stand and all proceeds benefit Rodriguez Elementary Relay for Life team.

TIME: 5 p.m. WHERE: Dr. Rodriguez Elementary

-Get your heart pumping with a zombie laser tag event over at the TSTC dorms. The event is open to the public and kid friendly.

Oct. 31

- Annnnd its here! The Halloween on Jackson St. event. Head downtown for food trucks, costume parade, haunted house and free candy.

TIME: 6 p.m. WHERE: Downtown Jackson Street

- San Benito will be hosting a Tent R Treat on the Trail event. Come by Heavin Park for some safe trick or treating. There will be a costume contest, decorated tents contest and music.

TIME: 6 p.m. WHERE: Heavin Park

- First United Methodist Church will be hosting a trunk or treat event in the church parking lot. Come by for a fun evening of candy, hot dogs, and popcorn.

TIME: 5:30-7 p.m. WHERE: First United Methodist Church in Harlingen

- If you’re by La Feria, San Benito or Los Indios, swing by the police department for trick or treating.

TIME: 4-7 p.m. (La Feria PD) 5-6:30 p.m. (Los Indios)

6-9 p.m. (San Benito PD)

- Gillman Chevrolet is hosting a Spooktacular Halloween Party. They will have a trunk or treat and a costume contest for kids. Winner will get a $100 gift card.

- For the adults looking for some seasonal fun, The Tipsy Tavern will be hosting a “Nightmare On Ed Carey” Halloween Party. There will be a costume contest with a cash prize. Call or Text to sign up for the contest at 956-456-6393
