Wichita man charged in death of 2-month-old son
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A Wichita man was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the death of his 2-month-old son.
Marlin Williams, 23, made his first court appearance in the death of Marrell Williams. He was also charged with three counts of aggravated battery.
Williams was arrested Jan. 10 after officers went to his home on a report that a child was not breathing, police said. Hospital personnel discovered the boy had critical internal injuries and also had suffered previous injuries. His twin sister was hospitalized with a healing broken femur. Marrell Williams died Jan. 16.
Williams is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on $500,000 bond. His next court appearance is Jan. 30.
Williams’ two other children, a 1-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl, were not hurt and were taken into protective custody.
The Williams’ case was one of two child abuse cases reported in Wichita Jan. 10. Nine-month-old Maela Flores died from her injuries Jan. 15. Her mother’s boyfriend is charged with first-degree murder in her death.
