Woman killed in Tuesday’s Homewood fire identified

November 15, 2018

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who died Tuesday in a house fire in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.

Cynthia Hall, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene, the examiner’s office reported Friday.

The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of North Homewood Avenue and Mount Vernon Street.

Hall was found near the first-floor stairwell. Pittsburgh homicide detectives are investigating.

Investigators believe the fire, which rose to two alarms, began on the first floor and moved up to the second floor and into the attic.

Flames damaged a nearby home, and the Red Cross assisted a resident living there.
