Veterans Art Museum to hold summit, open new exhibits
CHICAGO (AP) — More than 50 veteran artists from across the country will be in Chicago for an art summit and the launch of new exhibits.
The National Veterans Art Museum Triennial and Art Summit kicks off on Friday. It will include exhibitions at the National Veterans Art Museum, the Chicago Cultural Center and the DePaul Art Museum.
Organizers say the summit and triennial will explore a century of war and survival through visual, literary and performing arts — all created by veterans.
The summit runs from Friday through Sunday and includes presentations, workshops, panels, and discussions. The exhibitions open Friday and close July 29.
The museum opened in 1996 as the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum, but later expanded to include art by veterans of all wars.
