Warrant leads to arrest, drugs
A search warrant netted drugs and guns in a southeast Fort Wayne home Tuesday night, city police said.
Fort Wayne police detectives and gang unit served a search warrant at 3302 McKinnie Avenue around 8:15 p.m. as a result of an investigation, police said in a statement.
It said numerous tips, neighbor complaints, traffic stops, surveillance, shots fired at the home and a recent shooting across the street at a service station led to the warrant.
At the time of the search, 13 people, including children, were inside the home, which police said is a known criminal street gang home.
Three loaded handguns were found, lying within reach of the children, the statement said. It said about 500 grams of marijuana, dealing paraphernalia and ammunition were also found.
Police arrested Deshannon Shelton, 33 and charged him with felony possession of marijuana, the statement said.
