War monument broken in half in Janesville park; juvenile arrested, police say
A monument to those who served in Vietnam was snapped in half last week in a park in Janesville, with police finding and arresting a juvenile for allegedly doing the damage.
The bronze monument of a pair of boots, with a rifle upright between the boots and a helmet on top of the rifle, also known as a Battlefield Cross, was found damaged on April 9 on the Walk of Honor in Traxler Park.
The Walk of Honor is in the veterans memorial area of the park that has numerous monuments to the military.
Police followed leads to those who were present at the memorial when the vandalism took place, leading to arrest of the unidentified juvenile.
