TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man accused of setting his ex-girlfriend on fire in an apparent domestic dispute over child custody now faces an attempted murder charge.

Jonathon White, of Tonawanda, was arraigned on Thursday in a Buffalo hospital.

Jessica Cameron, who was attacked last month, also remains hospitalized with extensive burns to her face, head and hands.

Police Capt. Fredric Foels said previously that White was “was lying in wait” when he sprayed Cameron with a flammable liquid and ignited it outside the coffee shop where she worked.

Authorities say White accidentally burned himself during the attack.

Attempts to reach White’s lawyer for comment were unsuccessful.
