Man arrested in Georgia charged in Alabama teen’s death
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A man arrested in Georgia has been charged in the shooting death of an Alabama teen earlier this month.
News outlets report that 28-year-old Demorris Senyon Lauderdale of Harvest was arrested in Clayton County, Georgia, on Wednesday afternoon.
Lauderdale is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Austin D’mar Rich at an apartment complex in Huntsville on March 20.
Police Lt. Michael Johnson says the shooting happened during a drug-related robbery at the apartment.
Lauderdale is awaiting extradition to Alabama.
Court records show Lauderdale was out of jail on bond on drug and weapons charges in Madison County when Rich was killed.
