Raleigh man charged in Mother’s Day shooting that injured 3
A Raleigh man was charged in a Sunday night shooting, police said Tuesday.
Justin Rashaun Brown, 18, of Candle Court in Raleigh, was arrested Sunday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and carrying a concealed gun.
Earlier Sunday, officers were called to an intersection on the city’s east side, at Old Coach and Iron Horse roads just north of Buffaloe Road just before 8 p.m. There, they learned that three people had been shot. None of their wounds were expected to be life-threatening, a police spokeswoman said.
There was no update on the victims’ conditions Tuesday.
A woman who got a call from her children, who live in the neighborhood, told WRAL News it was not the Mother’s Day call she was expecting. They told her there was a shooting in front of their home and that they tried to comfort the victims.
“She just called and said there was a drive-by shooting...she said she was scared,” said Sheila Murray about her daughter. “They just stayed with the three men [who were] shot until the ambulance came to keep them calm.”
Police did not release the names of those injured.
