—CHICAGO POLICE-SEXUAL ABUSE: A former Chicago police officer accused in 2016 of groping and forcibly kissing a woman while on duty has pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge.

—TRANSGENDER PRISONER: A transgender prisoner is suing Illinois’ Department of Corrections, accusing it of doing too little to protect her from abuse. She is requesting to be transferred to a women’s prison.

—CHICAGO OFFICER KILLED-TRIAL: Jury selection is underway in the trial of a man charged in the 2010 killing of an off-duty Chicago police officer during an attempted robbery.

—LEWIS AND CLARK TRAIL: A historic site in southern Indiana is now part of a new 1,200-mile expansion of the Lewis and Clark Historic Trail.

—LINCOLN’S NEW SALEM-CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION: The central Illinois settlement where Abraham Lincoln came of age and began his public life is celebrating its centennial as a state park.
