NAMPA — Nampa Police are investigating a suspicious death after responding to reports of a body found in a cemetery in Nampa.

Officers responded to reports of a body found in the canal at the north end of Kohlerlawn Cemetery on Sixth Street North at 11:41 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the department.

Upon arrival, officers located a body alongside the canal in a suspected sink hole. Police say the body is possibly an adult male, but identification has not been determined.

Investigators will not begin recovering the body until Thursday morning, according to Sgt. Brian Jones. Jones said they will need daylight because recovering the body will require hand shovels. Officers will be guarding the scene throughout the night.
