One killed, one injured in early morning wreck on Highway 27 south of Cedartown

One person was killed and another hospitalized in a wreck this morning south of Cedartown, according to Georgia State Patrol officials.

Their press office released that Daniel Lee Clackum, 29, of Cedartown was killed and Allen Dale Dostart, 28, of Cedartown was injured and taken to Floyd Medical Center by Redmond EMS after the pair were traveling southbound in the left line in a GMC pickup truck and were struck by a dump truck trying to change from the right to the left hand lane around 6:40 a.m. on Highway 27 South near the intersection of Dugdown Road.

Clackum was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:20 a.m. according to Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier.

The driver of the dump truck Jeffery David McCray, 59, of Buchanan, was uninjured in the wreck.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Special Collision Reconstruction Team is still investigating this morning’s wreck, officials said
