Heisman watch: The Heisman Trophy could be Baker Mayfield’s to lose

November 12, 2017 GMT

QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma

Mayfield dazzled in his team’s biggest victory yet, putting him in prime position entering the season’s final weeks.

Last week: 18/27, 333 yards, 3 TD

Season: 213/299, 3,559 yards, 31 TD, 5 INT; 73 carries, 231 yards, 5 TD

RB Saquon Barkley, Penn State

Barkley was held under 100 yards for the third straight game, likely ending his chances of winning the Heisman.

Last week: 4 carries, 35 rushing yards, 2 TD; 1 reception, 20 yards

Season: 166 carries, 899 yards, 11 TD; 40 receptions, 524 yards, 3 TD

RB Bryce Love, Stanford

Love led Stanford past Washington in one of his best performances. If Mayfield falters, Love is in a good spot to steal the award.

Last week: 30 carries, 166 yards, 3 TD; 1 reception, 12 yards

Season: 181 carries, 1,622 yards, 15 TD; 5 receptions, 31 yards

RB Josh Adams, Notre Dame

Notre Dame got crushed against Miami, and Adams wasn’t much of a factor. He was hurt last week, so like Barkley, his chances appear to be fading fast.

Last week: 16 carries, 40 yards

Season: 153 carries, 1,231 yards, 9 TD; 10 receptions, 82 yards

Honorable mention

QB Khalil Tate, Arizona; QB Lamar Jackson, Lousiville, QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
