Connecticut man charged after man dies in his home
SHERMAN, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of another man at his home.
State police say they arrested 65-year-old James Maharg on Thursday after the other man was found dead in the Sherman home Wednesday morning.
Authorities say Maharg called police at about 2 a.m. Wednesday saying another man had fallen and hit his head on a countertop.
State police say officers found “several suspicious circumstances” at the scene and requested additional investigation resources.
Police have not released the victim’s name, but say he is 63 years old.
Maharg is facing an additional charge of tampering with physical evidence.
He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail pending arraignment Friday. No defense attorney was listed in court records.
