Jonathan Truman Walte, 29, of Iowa City, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 in Iowa City.

He was born on May 24, 1987, in Fort Madison, to Joe Walte and Mary McDowell.

He was a construction worker and member of the Carpenter’s Union #1260. He was very charismatic and had the ability to make you mad and then laugh. Jon had a way of making you remember him and touched many lives. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and had a passion for all sports.

Jon is survived by his father and step mother, Joe (Tresa) Walte of Bonaparte; his mother, Mary McDowell of Fort Madison; one brother, Joe (Donielle) Walte of Salem; two half brothers, Frank and Sam McCollum, both of Fort Madison; one step brother, Nevada (Ann) Lyon of Fort Madison; one step sister, LaShae (Jake) Corder of Ottumwa; his paternal grandparents, Milt and Marilyn Walte of Keokuk, IA; several nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family; and his special friend, Lauren Marie of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and one uncle.

Cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of life will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison. Burial will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
