To the wonderful people of Pocatello and Southeastern Idaho
The parishioners of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Pocatello would like to thank you for attending and supporting the Annual Greek Festival. Thanks to you, the Festival has become one of the highlights of the summer and we are happy to put on such an event and share our cultural heritage and religious faith.
We want to especially thank all the Festival Sponsors, and we encourage you to support their establishments.
Such a large undertaking requires a lot of dedication, sacrifice, talent, financial resources and sheer joy. I want to express my appreciation not only to our parishioners, but also to our many friends, such as the ISU Women’s Softball Team, who helped during the workshops and those who served in the food lines during the Festival. Much appreciation is extended to KPVI-TV and KIDK-TV for their media coverage and to Mayors Blad and English of Pocatello and Chubbuck, respectively, and members of the City Council who helped serve; also to Downard Funeral Home for their ads in the Idaho State Journal, and many others.
Two of the highlights of the Festival were the tours of the historic sanctuary with Byzantine Iconography and the first performance in 13 years of our youth Greek dance group with the dancers from Salt Lake City.
The proceeds from the Festival will continue to go toward the restoration and preservation of our historic buildings.
Again on behalf of the Assumption parish, we say thank you and we look forward to next year’s Greek Festival. OPA!
