Shaheen to host posthumous medal ceremony
GREENLAND, N.H. (AP) — Two women will be collecting medals in New Hampshire honoring their fathers’ service in World War II.
U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is hosting a medal ceremony Monday at the Greenland Town Hall. New Hampshire Adjutant Gen. David Mikolaites will present a posthumous Purple Heart to the daughter of Carlton Farrand, who was hit by an enemy sniper’s bullet in France. He’ll also present replacement medals to the daughter of Ralph Noveletsky, who received numerous decorations during the war’s Burmese Campaign, but the medals were lost over the years.
