Level 3 Sex Offender from Shirley Charged with Possession of Child Porn
SHIRLEY -- A Shirley man was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges following an investigation into a purchase the man made through an online, e-commerce corporation, according to a release by the Massachusetts State Police.
The investigation began when the e-commerce corporation alerted the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit that a registered Level 3 sex offender identified as Sean McClure, 48, had purchased a “love doll” sex toy, which resembles a child, according to a release. The purchase of such an item violates the corporation’s user agreement and terms of service.
Trooper Jeffrey Perry and other members of the CCU made contact with McClure at his Shirley home, according to the release. They executed a search warrant with assistance from the Shirley Police Department and special agents from Homeland Security Investigations. They discovered numerous images believed to be child pornography, police said.
McClure was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of obscene matter, according to a release. He was booked at the State Police Barracks in Leominster and held on $20,000 bail pending his arraignment at Ayer District Court on Thursday, according to the release.
