Walmart semi truck leads authorities on chase through Spokane
Someone driving a Wal-Mart semi truck led authorities on a chase throughout Spokane and an unincorporated part of the county Thursday morning, causing several schools to declare lockdowns.
Officer Shane Phillips, a spokesman for the Spokane Police Department, said sheriff’s deputies began chasing the semi truck in an unincorporated part of the county. The truck reportedly crashed shortly after 11 a.m. in north Spokane, and authorities were chasing the driver on foot.
Spokane Public Schools reported at 11:10 a.m. that Garry and Shaw middle schools and Lidgerwood Elementary “are on modified lockdown due to an erratic driving semi in the area.”
The precise route of the chase wasn’t immediately clear. “It went all over the middle part of the city,” Phillips said.
