Michael Schlichting, 69, Kiel

Michael Steven Schlichting, 69, Kiel, died the evening of Sunday, April 21, 2018, at Theda Clark, Neenah, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born Oct. 25, 1948, to Eugene and Ruth (Wieting) Schlichting in Oakland, California, where his father (Gene) was serving in the U.S. Navy. Michael graduated from Juneau High School and soon after moved to the Sheboygan area. Michael spent most of his career at, and retired from, the Kohler Company.

On Sept. 9, 1989, Michael married the love of his life, Victoria Ann Nottling. He enjoyed spending time with Vicki and looked forward to their Sunday drives. He also enjoyed the companionship of several German shepherds over the years. Mike had many interests and talents including woodworking, hunting, fishing, and old cars. Unfortunately, he was unable to enjoy many of these hobbies later in life due to a childhood head injury that plagued him throughout life.

Mike was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Vicki on Dec. 25, 2016. He was further preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Mike is survived by his mother, Ruth Schlichting of Beaver Dam; two brothers, Daniel Schlichting of Waupun, and Keith Schlichting of Beaver Dam; and sister, Karen Schrab of Beaver Dam.

Mike is survived by his two daughters, Beverly (William) Bonde of Kiel, and Michelle (Chris) Lutzke of Belgium and their children. He is further survived by special nieces, Jennifer Jacobson of West Bend, Bridgette Hermanson (Todd) of Cambridge, Abigail Roerdink of Sheyboygan; and special nephew, David Schlichting of Waupun. Mike is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Betty Nottling of Lehigh Acres, Florida; dear cousins, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home at 815 6th Street, Kiel. Officiating at the service will be Chaplain Wayne Zimmermann. Family will greet relatives and friends from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at a later time by the family.
