Oakland downs Mohawk, 10-0, in five innings

OAKLAND — The Oakland softball team scored nine runs in the bottom of the second inning and defeated Mohawk, 10-0, in five innings in a Special District 3 game on Tuesday.

The Oakers (14-5, 11-2 District 3) remained a half-game behind Monroe (12-4, 11-1) in the league race.

Oakland only finished with three hits, but capitalized on eight walks. Andi Bean doubled and knocked in two runs, while Kyla Byrd and Kelsey Bingham each had one hit and one RBI.

Bean pitched a two-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one.
