HUNTINGTON — One person is dead after a shooting late Wednesday night.
The incident was reported just before midnight in the 2100 block of 11th Avenue of Huntington.
Police identified the victim as Emmanuel Lopez III, 26, Thursday morning and said he succumbed to injuries suffered in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
Two individuals, a man and a woman, were taken into custody at the scene at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday morning. Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial said no further information on the suspects would released at this time as HPD continues to investigate.
“During to the course of the investigation our officers uncovered evidence of criminal behavior and have made two arrests based on that,” Dial said. “We have not charged anyone in relation to the crimes that were committed last.”
Police believe the shooting, which took place in the street, was an isolated incident.
One neighbor told The Herald-Dispatch that she heard several shots fired late last night and came out of her house to help Lopez, who she said had already been shot and was laying in the yard before soon being taken to the hospital.
