Prep Boys Soccer: Sutherlin, Douglas settle for 1-1 tie

September 14, 2016 GMT

SUTHERLIN — The Bulldogs got a goal from freshman Reinaldo Alcantar in the 50th minute and salvaged a 1-1 tie with Douglas in a nonleague boys soccer game Tuesday night.

Quinden Parson gave the Trojans (1-2-1) the lead with a goal in the 20th minute.

Alcantar scored off an assist from Bryce Olsen. Sutherlin (1-1-1), which held a 10-5 advantage in shots-on-goal, was bidding for its second straight win.

“Overall, we took a step backward today,” said Sutherlin coach Rick Murphy. “We had our chances to win this game. We’re a very inexperienced team and our midfield looked like they were out of shape all night. We’ll work on trying to finish.”
