Steuben County motorcyclist killed in 2-vehicle crash

A Steuben County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night.

According to Indiana State Police, 62-year-old Larry A. Wateska of Orland was riding his 1999 Suzuki motorcycle when he collided with a 1997 Dodge pickup truck driven by 30-year-old Wesley L. Teller of Bronson, Michigan, at the intersection of Ind. 120 and County Road 300 West about 7 p.m.

Officers believe Teller was driving north on C.R. 300 W. when he came to a stop at Ind. 120. According to the release, he proceeded into the intersection into the path of Wateska.

Wateska attempted to avoid the collision, but hit the front end of the truck. He was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering fatal injuries. He was wearing his helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene by at coroner.

According to the press release, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. Toxicology results are pending.

Indiana State Police were assisted by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Steuben County EMS, Steuben County coroner and Fremont Fire Department.
