HealthAlliance Guild Gift Shop Welcomes Infants

January 13, 2019

LEOMINSTER -- The HealthAlliance Guild helped two expecting families ring in the new year with a gift basket that included gift items for not only the newborn but also mom.

Each year, the Guild Gift Shop creates a basket for not only the first baby born in the new year but also the last baby born in the year just past.

Although the guild has carried the tradition for more than 10 years, it began several years ago as a community event, with many local merchants contributing to the baskets.

Basket items included gift certificates, baby clothes, diapers and items to help pamper the moms.

This year’s basket included baby clothes, bibs, socks and a bracelet for mom. Baskets were delivered to baby Melissa and her family on New Year’s Eve and Baby Finn and his family as he came into the world in the new year.

“The HealthAlliance Guild Gift Shop always looks forward to this time-honored tradition bringing a little cheer, love and support for newborns and their families,” said Deborah LaPointe, president of the HealthAlliance Hospital Guild. “We take great pride in providing resources to help improve the patient experience, and we know a gift such as the baskets will bring a smile to both the parents and their families.”

The HealthAlliance Guild is a nonprofit agency that serves communities in North Worcester County. With a focus on health care, the mission of the guild is to support UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital in achieving its mission to improve the health of all people in our regional community in a caring, high-quality and cost-effective manner.
