Janesville street to close for 3 days so old Interstate bridge can be taken down
Ongoing work on the massive Interstate 39/90 rebuild in Janesville will cause a local street to be closed for three days at the Interstate beginning Tuesday.
Mount Zion Avenue on the city’s East Side will be closed under the Interstate from 7 a.m. Tuesday until late Thursday, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said.
Crews are removing and replacing the old northbound Interstate bridge over Mount Zion Avenue, so the local street is being closed for the safety of the public and the construction workers.
Motorists will have to take an alternate route, but no designated route was set up by the DOT, since Mount Zion Avenue is not a state highway.
The closest cross streets are North Pontiac Drive and North Wright Road.
Motorists should be alert for crews and equipment in the area, and allow for extra time to reach destinations.
