Sacred Heart women lose at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Candice Leatherwood scored a game-high 26 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team fell on the road to Bryant, 60-56, in a NEC matchup Monday night.

Leatherwood converted 9 of 15 field goals and added five rebounds and two assists as the only player to reach double digits in scoring for the Pioneers (7-15, 3-8 NEC).

Sacred Heart has lost six of its last seven games, including the last three in a row.

All nine players who got in the game scored at least two points for the Bulldogs (7-15, 6-5). Kierra Palmer scored 11 points and Naomi Ashley, Hannah Scanlan and Kathleen Everson chipped in eight points apiece in the win.
