PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Chicopee man charged with setting a series of fires in Berkshire County may be close to a plea deal.

Stuart Zebrowski was in court Wednesday for a hearing. His attorney and the prosecutor asked that the case be placed on the November trial list. The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/19Q7NEZ ) reports that both told the judge they were in discussions on a possible resolution prior to trial.

The 55-year-old Zebrowski has pleaded not guilty to 31 charges and is being held on $25,000 cash bail.

He's charged with setting four empty buildings on fire, starting 15 brush fires, and breaking into several homes from 2009 until April 2012 while driving a delivery truck for a Springfield linen company.

Police say he told them he only set fire to buildings he considered eyesores.
