Isolated storms, high heat indices possible this afternoon, Wednesday

Isolated thunderstorms with locally heavy rain and brief strong wind gusts are possible this afternoon in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, the National Weather Service said.

Peak heat index values will reach into the 95 to 100 degree range this afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, the weather service said in its outlook.

Thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall are also possible from Wednesday afternoon into the weekend, it said. Severe weather is not expected.
