Authorities release name of teen killed in Boone County crash
MADISON, W.Va. - Authorities have released the name of a teenager killed in a motor vehicle crash Memorial Day weekend in Boone County.
Boone County Chief Deputy Chad Barker confirmed that Jonathan “Tater” Lester, 17, a Scott High School student, was killed in the accident that occurred overnight Saturday at the old Hobet Mining property near Danville.
Barker said Lester was a passenger in a truck being driven by Dylan Price, 19, of Julian. Price is in South Western Regional Jail charged with DUI causing death. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
Barker added that Price has one prior arrest for DUI from 2017 that is still pending in Logan County Magistrate Court.
Scott High School officials said the school planned to have a slideshow in the cafeteria and a candlelight vigil on the track to pay tribute to Lester on Tuesday evening.
