Slicers baseball twin bill postponed

La Porte’s baseball doubleheader at Logansport on Saturday was postponed due to wet weather. No make-up date has been announced.

Former NP athlete Vogeler earns honor

Former New Prairie track athlete and current Butler senior Allie Vogeler was named Big East Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 18-24. Vogeler opened the outdoor season at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (59.45), which currently sits 12th nationally and first in the Big East. She was also a member of the Bulldogs’ 4 x 100 relay that broke the Butler school record (47.88).

Wolves rally for baseball win

Michigan City gave up seven runs in the bottom of the first, but rallied for an 11-9 baseball victory at South Bend Adams on Friday. Lukas Swistek’s two-run double with two outs in the seventh put the Wolves (1-1-1) in front. Chris Gault settled City on the mound with 5 1/3 innings of relief after coming on with two out in the first before Tyler Cuma finished up in the seventh for the win. He also contributed to the rally with two RBI. Cuma had two hits and Ryne Stormer doubled for M.C.

Wolves Noveroske tabbed to play in All-Star Classic

Michigan City’s Hannah Noveroske has been named to play in the North/South Indiana All-Star Basketball Classic on Saturday at John R. Wooden Gymnasium at Martinsville High School. This girls and boys doubleheader will be at noon CDT for the girls and 2 p.m. CDT for the boys. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Martinsville High School by calling 765-342-5571, ext. 4026.

Falcons Hannah to be honored with award

John Glenn boys basketball head coach Travis Hannah is one of three coaches who will receive special presentations at the 2019 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association annual clinic this month. Hannah will be recognized with a Point Guard College Transformational Coach award as presented by the IBCA. In addition, Jeffersonville boys assistant Clark Miles and Crawfordsville boys assistant Danny Pierce will receive awards as IBCA Assistant Coaches of the Year. This is the third year for the PGC Transformational Coach award, which is presented to a coach who has impacted the lives of his players and fellow coaches at his school and within his community. The recipient is a coach who is respected by his players and fellow coaches for his dedication, positive approach and integrity on and off the court. Hannah, Miles and Pierce will be honored at the 2019 IBCA Clinic on April 26 at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. The full clinic runs April 26-27. Clinic fees are $50 for IBCA members and $100 for non-IBCA members.

Slicers JV baseball rolls

La Porte’s JV baseball team cruised 11-1 in five innings over Hobart on Wednesday. The Slicers’ Camrin Worthington earned his first high school win. He allowed one run on no hits in four innings, striking out five. Shane Weaver threw one scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit and fanning two. Carson Stalbaum and Jack McGuire each had multiple hits. La Porte also didn’t commit an error.
