Nine West To Cut Jobs in Cincinnati
CINCINNATI (AP) _ Nine West Group Inc. will eliminate about 175 of 750 corporate jobs in Cincinnati as it combines operations with the former footwear division of The United States Shoe Corp., the company said Friday.
Nine West bought U.S. Shoe’s footwear group for $600 million in May and now its trying to eliminate job duplication that resulted from the deal.
The cuts in management, information, marketing and finance will mostly come at the former U.S. Shoe headquarters in Cincinnati.
About 50 of the 175 jobs will be moved to to St. Louis and the company’s headquarters in Stamford, Conn., The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Friday.
The cuts will not affect about 2,300 employees in distribution, raw materials and manufacturing plants in the Cincinnati area, said Noel Hord, president and chief operating officer of Nine West.
Luxottica Group S.p.A., of Milan, Italy, bought U.S. Shoe _ minus the footwear division _ in late May for $1.4 billion. That included the LensCrafters eyewear division and U.S. Shoe’s women’s apparel business.
Nine West’s shoe brands include Nine West, Westies, 9&Co. and brands it obtained in the U.S. Shoe purchase, including Bandolino, Easy Spirit, Selby and Amalfi.
