Students of Year to be recognized in St. Mary

CENTERVILLE — The St. Mary Parish School Board will recognize its Students of the Year honorees at its next school board meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday.

Three students will represent the parish in a regional competition to Feb. 22 in St. Mary Parish.

Making the grade as this year’s representatives are Elementary School Student of the Year Kelsey Brianne August, a fifth-grader at Raintree Elementary School, Middle School Student of the Year Kaitlyn Waguespack, an eighth-grader at Morgan City Junior High School, and High School Student of the Year Bailee Cabrini, a senior at Morgan City High School.

Also on the agenda is a proclamation to declare March 5-9 as National School Breakfast Week.

A field trip is up for approval that will allow Franklin Junior High sixth-graders to travel to NASA space Center in Houston in May.

An item to receive an appraisal report from Cook, Moore, Davenport and Associates regarding the J.A. Hernandez building and properties is up for consideration.

An executive session is also on the agenda that will involve the evaluation of St. Mary Parish Superintendent of Schools Leonard Armato.

The meeting will be in the Evans Medine Meeting Room at 474 Hwy 317 Centerville.
