Capitol-North girls hoops: Kohl goes off as LPS survives

POYNETTE — Senior Camella Kohl scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the second half as Luther Prep took Tuesday’s 53-50 Capitol-North girls hoops win at Poynette.

“I’m pleased with how the girls responded,” Luther Prep coach Randy Mensching said. “Camella had a huge second half.”

Kohl added six rebounds while junior guard Alyssa Hildebrandt finished with 10 points, four steals and three rebounds. Sophomore post Carly Hirsch pulled down 10 rebounds to go with three assists.

“We did a much better job attacking their 1-3-1 in the second half,” Mensching said. “Alyssa had a really good game for us.”

Jewel St. Germaine finished with eight rebounds and four steals while Gabi Tomlin had nine points and three steals. Tomlin added a free throw with four seconds to play to preserve the victory.

Luther Prep (5-5, 2-2 North) hosts Columbus Thursday. The Pumas fell to 6-7 and 1-3.
