Police recover TVs stolen from Wal-Mart
Rome police, working with loss control personnel at Wal-Mart, have recovered a couple of flat screen televisions that were stolen during two shoplifting incidents last month.
According to Rome police reports:
A local woman took a 32-inch set from the Wal-Mart on U.S. 411 East on March 24. The following day the woman went back to the store and stole a 60-inch TV.
Loss control officers at the store were able to identify the woman and discover she was trying to sell the larger set on Facebook.
Lt. Joe Costolnick contacted the woman Wednesday as if he was interested in buying the television.
After being shown the set at a location in West Rome, Costolnick identified himself as a police officer and the woman produced the small set as well.
Officers took back the television sets and told the woman a warrant would be issued for her arrest; however, she was not taken into custody at the time.
