Boy, 13, shoots, kills 11-year-old brother in Streetsboro, police say

STREETSBORO, Ohio — Police say a 13-year-old boy shot and killed his 11-year-old brother Monday night in what investigators are calling a “premeditated act.”

According to a news release from Streetsboro Police Chief Darin Powers, officers and emergency workers were called to a home on Alden Drive at 9:34 p.m. 

When they arrived, they found an 11-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The boy was taken to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, but he died of his wound.

The victim’s 13-year-old brother has been arrested and is charged with aggravated murder. He is being held in the Portage County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police say the older boy used a handgun stolen from his grandfather’s home. Investigators did not give information on a possible motive.

The names of the victim and the suspect were not released by police early Tuesday morning.
