President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron are returning to the White House following dinner at George Washington’s house.
The dinner Monday night at Mount Vernon in Virginia opened the first U.S. state visit of the Trump administration. The leaders were joined by their wives, Melania Trump and Brigitte Macron.
When asked how dinner was, President Trump responded, “Really fantastic.”
The French president returns to the White House on Tuesday. He will be welcomed with a military arrival ceremony, receive Oval Office time with Trump and participate in a joint news conference. The day will be capped by a glitzy state dinner for 150 guests.

A much larger dinner honoring the French president is planned for Tuesday night at the White House. Some 150 guests are expected.
