Flint airport awarded grants for infrastructure improvements
FLINT, Mich. (AP) — More than $4 million in infrastructure grants have been awarded to Bishop International Airport in Flint.
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced the funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for taxiway construction, rehabilitation and lighting.
The grants are part of more than $3 billion in Airport Improvement Program funding this year for projects across the nation.
The Transportation Department says airports receive a certain amount of Airport Improvement Program entitlement funding each year based on activity levels and project needs. If their capital project needs exceed their available entitlement funds, the Federal Aviation Administration can supplement their entitlements with discretionary funding.
