Omaha’s Schaake wins Nebraska Match Play Championship
Alex Schaake of Omaha took an early lead and hit cruise control to win 7 and 6 in the 36-hole Final of the 51st Nebraska Match Play Championship at Champions Run in Omaha.
Schaake made seven birdies during the first 18 holes to take a 5 up lead, before closing out the match with a par on the 30th hole. It is his first Nebraska Match Play title, but eighth Nebraska Golf Association title over all, tied for the second most all-time, with the great Bob Astleford of Omaha. Schaake is also the 15th player to win a Nebraska Amateur and a Nebraska Match Play.
